(KUTV) Salt Lake City – As if you need another reason to visit St. George this time of year, Georgefest kicks off Oktoberfest October 6th, 2017. Melynda Thorpe, Georgefest founder & creator, joined Kari & Dave on Fresh Living to talk about the big event.

According to Thorpe, “Georgefest is now in its 3rd year, taking place on the first Friday of every month all year long. (St. George is the one place in Utah where we can do an outdoor event all year long – it is the brighter side of the state.) This event was created to unite and gather members of the community together at the center of town – just like pioneer settlers did – to enjoy music, dancing, and socializing. We’ve found that people of all ages love it, so do tourists passing through. As winter approaches, Georgefest offers a great weekend trip opportunity for traveling south and enjoying a year-round outdoor activity.
First Friday in October presents Oktoberfest – the biggest first Friday in St. George of the year. The Jazz Garden venue of the event for adults 21 and over will offer a variety of craft brews and performances by Beans N Wheels and Wolf.
For families and attendees of all ages, the Main Street FREE Concert features Hoppy of Spanish Fork, Utah at 7 p.m. followed by a DJ Dance Party at Main Stage. An Oktoberfest old fashioned soda wagon featuring root beer varieties will be located this month at Food Truck Village.
Georgefest is located at Historic Downtown St. George. To learn more about Georgfest and the upcomign Oktoberfest, go to GeorgeStreetFest.com.
